The 4 Car Parts That Need To Be Replaced Most Frequently

    WilliamBy WilliamMarch 15, 2023No Comments3 Mins Read

Modern cars can run relatively efficiently for over 100,000 miles, but if they are in service for that long, they need to be looked after properly. Several parts in a typical car will wear out much faster than others – and these parts need to be replaced frequently. This article is a quick guide to the four car parts that need to be replaced the most often.

    Oil Filter

A car oil filter’s primary function is to remove contaminants such as dirt, metal particles, and debris from the engine oil, which can cause damage to engine components and reduce engine performance.

The oil filter typically consists of a canister and a filter element, which traps and holds the contaminants while allowing clean oil to flow through. Over time, the filter can become clogged with debris, reducing its effectiveness and potentially causing damage to the engine. Oil filters should be replaced every 5000 miles in ideal conditions.

    Air Filter

An air filter in a car serves to prevent contaminants such as dirt, dust, and debris from entering the engine’s intake system. It ensures that the air entering the engine is clean, which is crucial for efficient engine operation and longevity.

The air filter is typically made of a pleated paper or foam material that traps the contaminants while allowing air to flow through. Over time, the filter can become clogged with debris, reducing airflow and increasing engine strain. A dirty air filter can lead to reduced fuel efficiency, decreased engine performance, and even engine damage.

Regularly replacing the air filter is an important part of routine vehicle maintenance. Most vehicles require a filter change every year or so. Each car model requires a unique filter style. Use Shiply for auto parts delivery in advance before you need to change your filter.

    Brake Pads

Disc brake pads are an essential component of the braking system in cars. They are the replaceable friction pads that press against the brake rotor to slow down or stop the vehicle.

Brake pads are made of a combination of materials, including metal, ceramic, and organic compounds. As the brake pads wear down, they become thinner and less effective at stopping the vehicle. This can lead to increased stopping distances, reduced braking performance, and even brake system failure. Most mechanics recommend replacing brake pads every 10,000 or so miles.

    Spark Plugs

Spark plugs are a crucial component in the ignition system of petrol-powered cars. They are responsible for igniting the fuel-air mixture in the combustion chamber, which initiates the combustion process that powers the engine.

Spark plugs consist of a metal shell, a ceramic insulator, and a central electrode. When an electrical current is applied to the electrode, it creates a spark that ignites the fuel mixture. The frequency at which spark plugs need to be replaced varies depending on the make and model of the vehicle, as well as driving conditions. Generally, spark plugs need to be replaced every 30,000 to 100,000 miles. Some newer vehicles with advanced ignition systems may have spark plugs that can last up to 150,000 miles.

Spark plugs need to be replaced for several reasons. Over time, the electrode and insulator can wear down, leading to reduced performance and fuel efficiency. Worn spark plugs can also cause misfires, which can damage the catalytic converter and other engine components. Replacing spark plugs at the recommended interval can help ensure optimal engine performance and prevent costly repairs down the line.
