How Long Do Butterfly Locs Last?

    WilliamBy WilliamAugust 2, 2022No Comments2 Mins Read

If you’ve wondered how long butterfly locs last, you’re not alone. The fashionable locks have been seen on stars like Ciara and Leigh-Anne Pinnock. Although they’re a great choice for summer, the protective style requires special care. Here are some tips for keeping your locs looking their best. And remember, if you’re thinking of getting butterfly locs, here are a few things to keep in mind.

Before getting a butterfly loc, make sure that you have 6-8 packs of hair. The number depends on the style you want. Longer styles have thinner locs while shorter styles have jumbo locs. In any case, the hair should be soft enough not to put any tension on the scalp. This method also works on short hair. It is recommended to have a few inches of free hair to work with in order to keep the locs intact.

Butterfly locs require regular washing and moisturizing. You should shampoo them once a week to keep them hydrated. If you have been using hair products, you should also make sure that you wash them regularly and leave them to dry naturally. Using dry shampoo can also help. The length of butterfly locs will depend on how well you care for them. It’s best to follow these instructions in order to ensure that they look good for as long as possible.

Ideally, butterfly locs will last for eight to 12 weeks. If you’ve been following the instructions above, you should have no problem with them lasting for that long. But keep in mind that wearing them for more than four weeks can cause the locs to shrink and cause your scalp to become stressed. You’ll want to let them breathe once in a while as it’s normal for them to grow out. However, you should keep in mind that they can last up to six weeks if you take care of them properly.
